Oratorio - The History of England....Helen England
Helen
has been fortunate to have performed at some of the most
exclusive venues and events in the country. From
footballer's and model's weddings, to soap and TV stars,
Helen's vocal talent has been recognised time and time
again. TV companies like Sky TV and Sky Sports have also
engaged the services of Helen, enabling her to perform
before thousands at televised major sporting stadium events.
At events like these she has also been featured in both
national magazines OK and Hello.
Helen celebrates oratorios
10th year anniversary!! Yes 10 years, she can't believe it
and alas promises to remove the word young from the next
order of business cards, but will obviously continue to use
the ones she has left. She can't stand waste!!
So why the name Oratorio? Helen is a fully paid up
member of Equity which has many upsides to her business
providing insurance and public liability of up to 10 million
pounds, the only down side is, she is unable to use her real
name 'Helen England' as yet, unfortunately it has already
been registered in the past by somebody else!! Helen didn't
particularly want to change her name, as she had already
made her own name for herself when she started her singing
career at an early age of 14 and had already become well
known, winning the hearts of people through her amateur
dramatics, then her professional career on the cruise ships,
singing anything from Musical theatre, classical, Jazz, soul
and Pop, it was her classical ability which was recognised
and noted by her audiences the most, On returning home and
after her apprentice entertaining in the working men's clubs
and restaurants throughout the north west, a decision was
made to enter the wedding industry, and Equity being a must,
Helen decided the simplest solution was to create a Company
name, and after much research 'Oratorio' (A semi dramatic
composition of sacred music), was born.
Helen has had and has no interest in becoming an
actress, but through mutual friends, she ended up playing a
very small extra part, in a feature docu-drama, (1599)
Narrated by Christopher Eccleston and featuring Peter Hook
of 'New order', telling the story of Queen Elizabeth the 1st
courtiers, their lives their music and their homes, when it
was pointed out to her that in a very small way she has
become part of the history of the very same stately homes
and churches mentioned in the film, Capesthorne Hall,
Gawsworth Hall and Church, as she has already performed at
these same said establishments and many more.
Her classical adventures began years before the
cruise ship era, singing with 'Preludium', an all female
Choir with full orchestra and fire work displays in the
gardens of many of these stately homes throughout the
summers, but never thought for one second, that her career
would lead to her being asked to perform inside them, and
feels so privileged to be able to have done so. She has been
personally requested to perform for very special guests, by
the Marques of Anglesey at their home, asked to open the VIP
launch of The RHS flower show, at Tatton Park, and has found
herself singing for many other dignitary's, such as the Duke
of Devonshire, under the magnificent dome at The University
of Derbyshire in Buxton, Many football legends past and
present, including Bobby Charlton, Alex Ferguson too many to
mention, and sang for Manchester united on the pitch at the
Ajax Stadium, Amsterdam in front of 60,000 fans, she has
also performed for many celebrities at the Red cross charity
ball, at the Midland hotel Manchester.
And who has made all this possible? Who has put all
these contacts together To accomplish all this? you'll be
surprised to hear....it's her Brides, Her Grooms and their
family and friends!! Due to the ancient old system 'Word of
mouth' all the above mentioned performances in one way or
another have been connected to them and their very special
weddings she's had the honor and privilege to be asked to
perform at on their most special day of their lives, she is
sincerely grateful for all these amazing opportunities given
to her. And is reputed to always recognise and remember her
past Brides and grooms, when she see's them again, and is
over whelmed when they return to see her at other events.
Helen's career has been quite diverse, with her vocal
abilities being so versatile, she has found herself being
the newest member of Cheshire's well known 11 piece soul
band 'The Screaming Beavers, she's been on tour with the
likes of Troy Andrews (Trombone Shorty) undoubted the next
Loui Armstrong, who was over from new Orleans to record at
the legendry Abbey Road Studios with U2 and Green day, she
has performed at many Festivals, including an amazing
festival wedding, (Singing in her heeled wellies, especially
purchased!!)
Another small connection with history Helen recorded
an album of mainly old English compositions and Christmas
carols beautifully arranged by Fiona Corston, the aptly
named album 'Maiden England' is available on iTunes, she has
also become the vocal ambassador for Arighi Bianchi,
Cheshire's well known luxury furniture department store and
has performed for the past 6 years for them at their
exclusive summer and winter sale grand openings and their
Christmas parties, Helen recently performed at the newly
renovated and renowned 'Savoy hotel' for the Bentley Drivers
club 30th year dinner dance before they set of on a 30 day
tour of Britain, she has also performed at Liverpool's world
famous 'St Georges Hall' wowing them all with her amazing
vocal abilities, and if that isn't enough Helen has also
recorded some radio jingles, and between all this she is
constantly learning specially selected songs that means
something special to her clients.
On her amazing journey Helen has had the privilege to
meet and perform with a variety of excellent performers with
the same high standard as her own, from all over Britain and
Europe, Leading to her new Venture Divas Disguised, (under
cover performers) bringing this collection together, to
produce a very high standard of quality entertainment, for
clients events, returning to some of the most excellent
venues, Castles, stately homes, Mansions, hotels and
Marquees across the country, and giving others the
opportunity to be seen and heard, Not just concentrating on
Opera, she has the contacts for whatever Genre of music the
client requires!! Always providing a very high standard of
sound equipment and professional engineers, to suit all
venues, weddings or corporate events. Helen feels she has
the edge on other singing waiters as she understands it is
the matching of the high quality performers and high quality
sound that pulls the whole package together, and always
try's to keep the cost reasonable justifiable and within
reach, so don't be afraid to ask, you may be pleasantly
surprised.
Divas Disguised has really taken off, and although
Helen enormously enjoys portraying a Waitress dropping the
wedding cake, a police/firewoman or conspiring with the
client for their own scenario and having her audience on,
until the reveal, Helen realises it has a relatively short
life until people come to expect some madness and song, but
she feels there will always a place for high quality
professional vocalists to entertain at the wedding breakfast
or corporate events.
Divas Disguised agreed to perform on Celebrity 4
weddings for Michelle Marsh. Michelle is quoted in OK
magazine to have said 'It was the highlight of her award
winning wedding. Helen has also helped to win two episodes
of Channel 4's extremely popular program 'Four in a bed'.
Firstly for Simon and Gary of the 'Old manor', a beautiful
historic establishment in Staffordshire, and secondly for
Rowena Moore of the Edwardian Themed Sandhurst Hotel of
Middlewich. Footage of both these can be found in the
Helen continuously takes classical lessons and has
done so for many years, she believes it's important to keep
the lessons up, for pronunciation and technique reasons, not
allowing her standard to drop, she has worked very hard to
accomplish what she has achieved, and doesn't believe most
people on 'X factor' or 'Britain's got talent' realise the
hard work involved behind the scenes, the learning the
travelling, and worst of all, the giving up of their social
lives, the missing out, and the saying no, it is the
weekends the evenings, the early starts, the late nights and
the hanging around feeding off nervousness before the
performances is so very hard, but well worth it!!
Helen never gets a chance to thank all the people
that have been involved in her success, and to help make the
events run smoothly, Toast masters, Hotel management, DJ's,
catering staff, colleagues from the wedding industry and
venues.
A big Thank you to you all

Helen.
